Questions and answers
What should I do in a power outage?
First check your switchboard: if a safety switch or circuit breaker has tripped, the problem is in your home. If your neighbours are out too, it is an outage on the network: report it to your distributor. Stay well away from fallen powerlines, and call 000 if anyone is in danger.
How long do power outages last?
Most local outages are fixed within a few hours. Distributors often publish an estimated restoration time, which we show with each outage.
Where does this data come from?
From the distributors’ own public outage maps, collected every 10 minutes. powercut is a non-profit project.
